The Houston Texans were without two of their top stars in quarterback Deshaun Watson and defensive end JJ Watt for a good chunk of last season after they suffered significant injuries. However, both are well on the road to recovery and should be good to go for training camp, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports:

Good news for the Texans: Stars Deshaun Watson (ACL) and JJ Watt (tibial plateau fracture) are progressing so well that, at this point, neither are expected to start training camp on the PUP list, I’m told. After a rough 2017 injury-wise, Houston will begin 2018 healthy.

Watt, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, played in just five games last season due to his broken leg and has featured in just eight games over the past two years due to injuries. As for Watson, he was a revelation as a rookie last season as he lit up the league through his first six starts. However, he suffered a torn ACL which prematurely ended his amazing season.

Watson has done some throwing during OTAs, while he and Watt have also been rehabbing together. The two are notoriously hard workers, which is likely why their progress has been coming along so well.

The fact that both are right on schedule to return for training camp should be terrific news for the Texans. Watson showed in his limited time last season just how high his ceiling is. And Watt, even if he's no longer at his peak, still has the potential to be a big-time playmaker defensively.

Hopefully for Houston, both of their stars can get a bit more good luck in terms of their health this upcoming season.
