The Houston Texans are signing safety Mike Adams, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Adams spent the 2018 campaign with the Carolina Panthers, playing in all 16 games and registering 75 tackles, three interceptions and six passes defended. He was cut by the Panthers in February.

The 38-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Delaware, went undrafted but eventually landed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2004. He spent the first three years of his career with the 49ers, making 18 starts.

Adams then joined the Cleveland Browns in 2007, where he proceeded to reside for his next five seasons. He was a relatively consistent member of the Browns secondary, with his most productive year coming in 2011 when he posted 64 tackles and three interceptions.

He then joined the Denver Broncos for two seasons before linking up with the Indianapolis Colts, where he enjoyed the best three-year stretch of his career.

Adams made the Pro Bowl in two of his three seasons with the Colts (2014 and 2015), racking up 106 tackles and five interceptions during his first year with the club and following that up by totaling 75 tackles and five picks in 2015.

The Paterson, N.J. native ended up joining the Panthers in 2017 and never missed a game with Carolina, starting all 32 contests in which he played.

However, he did not reach the same type of success with the Panthers that he had with the Colts.

Adams has played in 222 games throughout his NFL career, which is fourth among safeties all-time.

The Texans are coming off of a loss to Adams' former Carolina club, which dropped them to 2-2.
