If you've ever played darts with someone that doesn't know how to play darts, then you can relate to the Houston Texans. In a seemingly positive, but strange move, the Texans have reportedly just signed RB Phillip Lindsay, per Ian Rapoport:

Lindsay is most likely the best free agent RB left on the board after Chris Carson, Aaron Jones, and Kenyan Drake have found their homes. The Texans, who are fighting the good fight to keep and appease superstar signal-caller Deshaun Watson, have presumably made this move to either keep their quarterback happy, or in a worst-case scenario, prepare for his eventual departure.
Either way, they need someone of Lindsay's talents, as David Johnson provided little to no positive value on the offense, while simultaneously looking like a pale return for erstwhile WR Deandre Hopkins.
The move, of course, does little to solve the Texans' growing logjam in the backfield:

No doubt that David Johnson will have some words about the deal going forward. Houston has seemingly made an interesting statement about the formerly incumbent starter by not engaging in any talks with the rich free agent class of wide receivers.
After Week 1 of free agency, many still remain on the board, and it stands to reason that the Texans would do much better in repairing relations going forward with Watson if they had dipped their toes into the WR pool. Even keeping Will Fuller V might have gone a long way.
Instead, the team has apparently opted to go all-in on their rushing attack. We'll see how that goes in training camp, and if Houston addresses its now-aging and decrepit wide receiver corps in the upcoming draft.
