It goes without saying that the Houston Texans boast some serious star power across the board. They managed to add to that trait with the signing of former LSU offensive tackle K.J. Malone.

Malone is the son of NBA Hall of Famer and Utah Jazz legend, Karl Malone. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, he could not be any happier for his son's opportunity with the Texans.

“It's a dream come true,” K.J. Malone said. “I always dreamed of playing in the NFL, and to play for an organization like the Texans is amazing.”

Needless to say, the newest Texan has plenty to live up to thanks to his father. Malone is one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history and casts a shadow so large that even today's players are trying to surpass. “The Mailman” enjoyed a spectacular career with the Jazz and eventually retired as the NBA's second all-time leading scorer behind only Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Fortunately, his son now has the opportunity to establish a name for himself in the NFL.

The younger Malone became a staple on LSU's offensive line over the past couple of seasons. However, his year was cut short with a knee injury. He largely flew under the radar up until a solid performance at the Scouting Combine.

While he may not be as tall as his father, Malone is still a towering presence at 6-foot-4, 303 pounds. While it may be difficult for him to mirror his father's success, there is a good chance he can surpass him with a team achievement such as a Super Bowl.
