The Houston Texans have quite a few decisions to make in their secondary with free agency right around the corner. A little less than two weeks until free agency, Houston appears to be undecided on the future of Gareon Conley.

“Conley has been good for us,” O'Brien said, per the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson. “I probably wouldn't be able to answer that specific question, but we like Gareon Conley, if that answers your question. We like what he brings to the table.”

Due to injuries, the Texans were left looking for some aid at the cornerback position in the 2019 season. Ahead of the trade deadline, Houston chose to surrender a third-round pick to acquire Conley from the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders.

Over the course of his first eight games with the Texans, Conley tallied 27 tackles and 11 deflections. Then, in the playoffs, Conley would record 11 tackles and three deflections. Despite not hauling in an interception, Conley flashed potential in Houston's defense.

Following a strong showing with the Texans, the former first-round pick is slated to become a free agent. Even though Houston has more than enough cap space to bring him back, it is unclear if he's in their future plans.

Besides Conley, Johnathan Joseph, Bradley Roby, and Phillip Gaines are also unrestricted free agents for the Texans. Along with re-signing some of their own, Houston could choose to target one of the marquee names in free agency. Therefore, with O'Brien's recent comments, it is apparent that the Texans are considering all of their options before re-signing Conley.
