Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and quarterback Deshaun Watson shared a moment together after their final game of the 2020 NFL season. Watt took the time to apologize to Watson for wasting a season in the quarterback's career while in his prime, per NFL Films.

Unfortunately, it's not only Watson's season that was wasted. Watt is also reportedly considering retirement by the end of the season but has yet to have a conclusive answer on his decision regarding his future with the Texans.

“Yeah, I mean, I've certainly considered it,” Watt said via Yahoo Sports. “Who knows. Like I said this week, there's too many unknowns to really know. But if it is, I really — it's unfortunate that it wasn't in front of a full stadium and all the fans, and it's unfortunate it wasn't a win, it's unfortunate it was in this type of a season. But who knows. Like I said, there's a lot of unknowns. But I think this city knows, I hope they know how I feel about them and how thankful I am. I've tried to do everything I possibly can and give everything I possibly have.”

It was a disappointing season for the Texans after their former head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien was sacked by the team following a 0-4 start to the season. Despite parting ways with the mastermind behind the DeAndre Hopkins trade, the Texans still failed to gain momentum in their next games and continued on their downward spiral all throughout their campaign.

The Texans managed to have a neck-and-neck battle with the Tennessee Titans in Week 17 but they failed to execute in crunch time which led to a 41-38 defeat for a 4-12 record. The Houston-based squad ultimately missed the playoffs a season after they were hailed as AFC South divisional champions back in 2019.

J.J. Watt will certainly go down as one of the best players to have ever donned the Texans' colors if it was indeed his last season already. He will potentially be closing a solid 10-year career highlighted by five Pro Bowl appearances and three NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Hopefully, J.J. Watt could still change his mind and have another shot at a Super Bowl run to pen a fitting end to his decorated career next season.
