The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced the NFL to undergo huge changes to their usual routine. Several health and safety protocols are now being mandated in every team facility across the league, including that of the Houston Texans. Star defensive end J.J. Watt bared his thoughts on the new normal to Peter King of Football Morning in America.

“I mean, if I’m being perfectly honest, it’s somewhat nice from an actual football standpoint,” Texans' Watt said. “Think about a normal training-camp day: You’re in the building from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. And you got a whole bunch of meetings. Now, we are very efficient in our meetings. We get things done. Nobody’s screwing around. Everybody’s locked in. It’s just really been good with our Zoom meetings. Just purely being in the comfort of your home doing your Zoom meetings, and not having to rush into the stadium early in the morning. It is a nice feature.”

Not only that, but social distancing protocols are also being implemented in the Texans facilities' locker and training rooms. Everyone from the players to the coaches is also required to wear face masks and whenever they are on the premises of the facility. All these are meant to be followed to ensure that the resumption of the upcoming football season won't compromise any individual's health. At the very least, J.J Watt seems to have found a silver lining to it all.

Amidst the rising coronavirus tally, the NFL is still set to follow its schedule heading into the upcoming season. Full practices will commence from August 17 until September 6 while the kickoff game of the 2020 season is slated on September 10.
