It has been a long road to recovery for Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt after suffering a season-ending broken leg last year that marked the second straight season ended prematurely with a significant injury.

However, Watt has been making headway in the last few months toward returning to the field and looks to be on track to play in the season opener against the New England Patriots. With that in mind, the 29-year-old is featured in a new Reebok commercial that shows the giant leg scar he has from the surgery he had undergone to repair his broken leg.

It is clear that Watt is using the injury as more motivation to push him forward to get him back to playing at an elite level on the field. He has gone through a rough last couple of years where he has been severely limited by injuries on the field that hasn't allowed him to continue to perform at what was a Hall of Fame pace. Instead, it has raised questions in terms of his durability along with whether he can recapture that form at this point of his career.

The fact that he has been willing to utilize the scar shows that it is one of the factors that is pushing him to prove the doubters wrong that he has plenty left in the tank to not only perform at a high level but also earn another NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. He has the track record to prove that he can reach that type of performance on the field, it may just come down to him staying healthy.

The Texans superstar appears to be finally healthy and past his injury issues, which should set up the opportunity to demonstrate just that and much more on the field in the 2018 season.
