Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson shared some high praise for Carolina Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen ahead of their matchup in Week 4. It appears Watson's comments have resonated with the defense.

Allen is coming off quite a performance against the Arizona Cardinals. According to Avery Duncan of the Texans Wire, defensive end J.J. Watt is not going to underestimate him:

“I thought he played well. Obviously when you go out there and you win, it’s difficult to do in this league, so he did a great job,” said Watt on Allen’s Week 3 performance. “He was accurate with the ball, he did a good job keeping the offense moving and he did a good job.”

“It’s going to be a good challenge for us this week and we’ll see what he does here,” said Watt.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Watt's comments. There had been plenty of speculation regarding the state of the offense after quarterback Cam Newton was sidelined with an injury. Fortunately, Allen quickly managed to erase any doubt by completing 19 of 26 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns in Arizona.

The onus will now be on Watt to make sure that Allen is not able to find his rhythm early on. There is good reason for Houston's defense to be optimistic following a stellar outing from their pass rush against the Los Angeles Chargers. Watt managed to register two of the team's five total sacks on quarterback Philip rivers. He will need to find a way to keep it going at home against Carolina if they hope to get a winning streak going.
