The ejection of rookie nose tackle Ross Blacklock only added salt to the wound as the Houston Texans were dealt another loss, this time by the Baltimore Ravens which ended on a 33-16 note.

The play came late in the fourth quarter, with the Texans down by a double-digit margin to the Ravens. The TCU product was flagged for shoving after the whistle and subsequently booted out of the game. He finished his Week 2 stint with an assisted tackle made for the team.

Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt openly criticized the mistake of his rookie teammate:

“It’s stupid,” he said. “It’s selfish. It was a stupid play. It was selfish. I’ve spoken to Ross before. It pisses me off.

“It’s a very selfish move late in the game, and it’s dumb. It’s very dumb to hurt your team in that type of setting for no reason.”

Even after losing Blacklock on the defensive side of the field, the Texans weren't doing so well on the other side either. Quarterback Deshaun Watson could only do so much as he led the offense with 275 passing yards on 25 of 36 passes completed and a touchdown.

Veteran rusher David Johnson took the majority of the snaps in lieu of Duke Johnson's absence due to a leg injury. He was severely limited by a tough Ravens defense to which he only accounted for 34 rushing yards on 11 carries.

The entire Texans' squad should step up if they are hoping to salvage what is trending to be an uneventful season. Their tough schedule continues as they visit the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers next on September 27.
