While the Jacksonville Jaguars may be down a cornerback (A.J. Bouye – hip), their opposers on Sunday, the Houston Texans, look to be up a wide receiver, in Keke Coutee.

Coutee suffered an ankle injury in the preseason opener for the Texans. While he was initially carted off the field, later reports indicated that it was minor, and that he would be back around Week 1 or 2. After suffering no setbacks, the Texans believe he's “trending towards” playing Week 2, for the team's home opener.

Said coach Bill O'Brien on Friday, via Texans Wire:

“I'd say the arrow's trending toward him being able to play, but I think we're going to have to probably see that today, see how today goes and see how he feels tomorrow. We have a way to go before the game, but he's — you guys have seen him, he's been out there at practice, so we'll see.

The inactives this week will be interesting. We haven't decided who they're going to be because a lot of guys are playing well, but you have to pick your seven inactives, so it's going to be an ongoing conversation to try to do what's best for the team.”

Coutee practiced in a full capacity for the entirety of the week. If he's available, the Texans receiving corps got much more dangerous.

Though oft-injured as a rookie, Coutee is a dynamic slot receiver with speed to burn. It just so happens to be that Houston already boasts speed merchants in Will Fuller and Kenny Stills. All three will work against the Jaguars secondary, while cornerback Jalen Ramsey follows two-time All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins.
