Through the first few months of the NFL offseason, former All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson has remained on the open market as one of the several notable names left available. In this process, Peterson has voiced his desire to possibly play for several different teams this upcoming season.

One of which is the Houston Texans that are nearby his hometown of Palestine along with being a potential team on the rise. During a recent interview with NFL Network's “Up To The Minute,” Texans running back Lamar Miller voiced that he believes Peterson could help the team.

“I used to look up to Adrian Peterson growing up,” Miller said. “He runs the ball hard. He’s a great running back. He’s been a great running back in this league for years. It would be good to have him join us, just his leadership, seeing the things he’s done in previous years, that I feel like I could probably learn from him. It would help us out as a team.”

Since signing with the Texans back in March 2016 on a four-year deal worth $26 million, Miller has been the unquestioned starter. He has remained productive over his tenure that includes notching his second career 1,000 rushing yard campaign of his career, but the addition of Peterson could provide a lift to the running game.

The 33-year-old has shown throughout his career be one of the most productive running backs in NFL history. Although he has experienced a notable decline that came in part due to injury, Peterson can still step in to provide stability in the running game. The chance to play in Houston could give him a chance to compete for playing time alongside Miller on a team on the rise with an emerging star quarterback in Deshaun Watson under center.

With Peterson still floating out there in free agency, the possibility remains out there, and it may just be a matter of the Texans experiencing a mutual interest in bringing in the future Hall of Famer.
