Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller is coming off a strong 2018 campaign. Regardless, it appears he was adamant about making some minor changes to his physique this offseason.

Miller made some notable changes to his workout regimen last year and it certainly showed. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, he is looking to be leaner by the time the 2019 NFL season rolls around:

“Right now, I’m pretty much the same as I came in last year,” Miller said. “Last year, I came in at like 220. So, right now I’m like 220, 221. But I’m going to try to drop my body fat down a little bit heading towards training camp.”

Miller had been coming off an underwhelming 2017 campaign after finishing with a career-low 3.7 yards per carry. It is clear that he was adamant about making a change going into the offseason and it ultimately worked out for the best. He finished the season with 973 yards and five touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry before being selected as an alternate for the Pro Bowl.

There is no question that this Texans offense is loaded with talent across the board. Miller has long served as the workhorse back in Houston and will be looking to keep his stronghold on the lion's share of touches out of the backfield moving forward.

Regardless, he is entering the final year of his current deal and will need to make quite a statement going into free agency.

The 28-year-old will be doing what he can to show he still has plenty left in the tank.
