Houston Texans offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil remains a crucial piece for the team in the upcoming seasons. However, the fifth-year player still needs to improve and address the flaws in his game in order to better contribute to the team. Tunsil tallied a high number of penalties with 17 in his debut season with the Texans in 2019.

“I’m going to go ahead and throw this out there – my main goal is to fix the penalties I had last year,” he said. “That was one of the main things I wanted to work on and work with Deshaun (Watson) this offseason. Moral of the story is just I want to improve. I want to keep improving every year that I have.”

Tunsil's career began with the Miami Dolphins when the team selected him with the 13th overall selection in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He became the highest selected offensive lineman for the Dolphins since Jake Long went first overall in 2008. Despite the promise that came with his arrival, he only went on to have a short three-year stint with the team.

The former Ole Miss product was eventually included in a major trade between the Dolphins and the Texans. On August 31, 2019, Miami sent Tunsil, wideout Kenny Stills, and a fourth-round pick to Houston in exchange for two first-round picks, a second-round pick, cornerback Johnson Bademosi, and offensive tackle Julien Davenport.

He started 14 games at left tackle for the Texans in 2019 en route to his first trip to the Pro Bowl. His solid performance landed him an extension as he recently signed a three-year, $66 million contract which made him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league.

Tunsil's continuous development will be vital for the success of a playoff contender like the Texans who are also aiming to defend their AFC South title next season.
