The Houston Texans have muscled themselves into the top overall spot in the AFC South through the first seven weeks of the season after bustling forward for their __ straight win. Second-year quarterback Deshaun Watson pushed through some rib and lung injuries over the last couple of weeks, which has earned the respect of star safety Tyrann Mathieu, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“He’s tough,” safety Tyrann Mathieu told PFT by phone after Sunday’s win over the Jaguars. “I can’t stress it enough. He’s everything we’re trying to be as a team.”

Deshaun Watson was able to showcase that during Sunday's 20-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars as he did just enough against that stacked defense completing 12-of-24 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. It was among his least productive outings of the year, the Clemson product was able to play mistake-free in the passing game while pacing the Texans ahead of the Jaguars in a defensive battle.

Running back Lamar Miller put together a strong outing with 100 rushing yards on 22 attempts and a touchdown that also helped lead the way. This helped alleviate some of the pressure off Watson as he worked through his physical issues. Keep in mind, he had been playing through a partially collapsed lung in last weeks' win over the Buffalo Bills. This toughness and mental fortitude to play through this type of issues speak highly of him while earning more respect from his teammates.

The Texans will now head into Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins looking to extend their win streak to five games while grabbing a strong grip hold of the AFC South division. Although he has been hampered by injuries, Watson has a chance to finally push his team forward to getting back into the playoff picture.
