The Houston Texans came up short versus the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Wild Card. However, outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus is still confident in the talent on this roster.

The Texans were outplayed by the Colts in multiple facts o the game. Regardless, Mercilus feels Houston has more than enough players to make a serious playoff run next year, via the team's official website:

“Yeah, no doubt. It's a very talented roster when you look at it from offense, special teams, defense. We got all the pieces. We hadn't had that in years past, so it's just a matter of putting it together and consistently doing it, week in and week out.”

It is easy to see where the optimism stems from for Mercilus. Houston managed to bounce back from an abysmal 0-3 start to the 2018 NFL season to win the AFC South over Indianapolis. Their star-studded roster boasts household names on both sides of the ball. Although they were not able to get it done on Sunday, there is still good reason to be hopeful moving forward.

Now that the Texans are officially shifting gears to offseason mode, it is safe to assume that they will be looking to add even more talent in the near future. Houston has a number of veterans that will be free agents once the season is over. It will be interesting to see if the team decides to go in a more youthful direction or keep things as is for next year's potential playoff run.
