Houston Texans wide receiver Vyncint Smith isn't a household name yet, but judging by Deshaun Watson's comments it might only be a matter of time before he is. Smith only played in seven games last year catching five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, but he has spent time this off-season with his quarterback trying to build chemistry.

Oh yeah, we got together last summer,” Smith said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “We get together this summer to throw, build chemistry in a new environment or different environment with Deshaun and just have fun.”

Smith got his chance last season with Demaryius Thomas tore his Achilles and he made the most of the opportunity. This season with Thomas moved on to the New England Patriots he is expected to have a big role on the team.

Wilson knows how hard Smith has worked this off-season to be a threat on the offense, and he thinks he has improved in every facet of his game.

“He’s a guy who has improved mentally, physically, just all-around,” Watson said. “He’s been doing a great job. He’s handled every challenge. He’s done a good job for us.”

The Texans still have Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller, but after that is a bunch of guys who need to step up. Smith still has a lot to prove but all signs at this point towards him being a solid part of the offense, and another sure-handed target for Watson.

The Texans opened up their regular season on September 9th in the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.
