Deshaun Watson has inserted his name into the NFL MVP race this season. He strengthened his candidacy on Sunday. Following a Patrick Mahomes fumble, Watson rushed for a touchdown to give the Houston Texans a halftime lead versus the Kansas City Chiefs in a wild shootout.

Sometimes Andy Reid's aggressiveness works in favor of the Chiefs but this time it didn't. Kansas City could've sat on the ball and taken a 17-16 lead into halftime if they had taken a knee. Instead, they decided to pass the ball and Mahomes fumbled it on their own side of the field.

As a result, it gave Watson a chance to give the Texans the lead and he did just that. With the rushing touchdown to make it 23-17, the third-year quarterback now has 16 total touchdowns and two interceptions on the season.

The game between the Texans and Chiefs is shaping up to be a shootout that comes down to who has the ball last. Reid is hoping that the decision to throw it before halftime doesn't come back to bite him in this game.
