The Texas A&M Aggies smacked Alcorn State in the first round of the NIT Tournament on Tuesday, but head coach Buzz Williams made one thing clear: It was absolutely wrong they weren't selected for the Big Dance.

The Aggies finished the season at 24-12 and collected wins over Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas in the SEC Tournament before coming up short in the final against Tennessee. Williams surely thought that would earn them a spot in March Madness, but it didn't happen. The entire Texas A&M group was absolutely dejected, too.

Via ESPN:

“We were and are completely devastated and heartbroken,” Williams said. “Sad is the wrong word, because it doesn't completely express the totality of our emotions.

“After studying all this nonstop the last two days and looking at it from every vantage point,” he continued, “it defies logic that we are not in the NCAA tournament.”

The Texas A&M coach certainly has a point. They performed extremely well in a very tough conference and fully proved a spot in the dance should've been given to them. Before the loss to the Volunteers, the Aggies also won seven in a row. This team simply did everything imaginable to get a chance to compete in the NCAA Tournament. Now, Texas A&M will be looking to cruise through the NIT tourney as the No. 1 seed. But the pain of being excluded won't be going away anytime soon.
