Thabo Sefolosha has been in the NBA for 10 seasons now and has experienced it all. He has fought for a roster spot on a Chicago Bulls , been an essential piece of an NBA Finals team in Oklahoma City, and now he is trying to find his way with the Atlanta Hawks.

Recently, Thabo has had trouble staying healthy because of crazy circumstances, like breaking his leg in an incident with the New York Police Department. If he wants to continue his NBA career, he will have to find a way to step up this season.

This season will be Thabo's contract year with the Hawks, and they are a team that has potential. This offseason they added Dwight Howard; if they can find a way to make him work on this team then they could make a deep playoff run in the Eastern Conference.

Thabo will have to play at his top game to really make a difference on this team. The great thing about Thabo's game is that he has the ability to be what every team in the NBA needs; a 3-and-D shooting guard. At the height of his career with the Thunder, Thabo was shooting above 40% from downtown and he was a lock-down player on defense. He had the ability to defend both Kobe Bryant and Lebron James when needed.

If Thabo finds a way to get back to that level of play, then there is no doubt that someone will pay up next offseason. When asked about his contract year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Thabo had this to say:

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t in the back of my mind. Once it is basketball season, I believe that if you take care of what you have to the rest will take care of itself. I’m going to focus on what I can control, play my game and take it from there.”

Thabo seems to have the right mindset, but of course the contract is going to be on his mind. If Thabo can find a way to keep the contract in the back of his mind but also use it to motivate himself moving forward, then he will find the success he needs.
