The NFL's showdown of the week is undoubtedly the 10-1 San Francisco 49ers and the 9-2 Baltimore Ravens.

Despite having the better record, the 49ers are the 5.5-point underdogs in Baltimore. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and the rest of the Ravens offense are on an absolute tear as of late averaging a league high 45 points per game over their last three games.

If the 49ers want to keep up with the high-octane Baltimore offense, they'll need big games from their primary playmakers — one of those being rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

After a solid career at the University of South Carolina, Samuel was drafted by the 49ers in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

Samuel has separated himself already in the NFL. The 5-foot-11, 214-pound wide receiver is tied for first among NFL rookies with 40 receptions on the year. For the year, he has 45 touches, 560 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.

Deebo Samuel has especially become increasingly important for San Francisco in recent weeks as he has 10 or more targets in two of the last three weeks and although he only had two catches last week, made the most of his opportunities for 50 yards and a TD.

The rookie was limited in practice this week with a shoulder injury but he is expected to suit up and play against the Ravens.

In a matchup against two of the league's best teams this season, the 49ers will need a big game from their impact rookie receiver if they want to pull off the upset. All eyes are on Deebo Samuel.
