The Carolina Panthers have already had an interesting offseason.

They traded superstar guard Trai Turner for superstar tackle Russell Okung. Then they basically told the world that Cam Newton would not be on the team in 2020. Which was followed by the news that they were extremely close to a deal with free agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

All this and we're still very early into free agency, oh and the NFL Draft is still yet to come as well.

With everything going on, Carolina still needs to make some moves though. What is the biggest need that the Panthers must address in free agency though?

You could make arguments for a few positions here, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

However, we're sticking with the offense, and going to that offensive line.

You could argue that they already picked up Okung this offseason, but they had to lose Turner to do so. Therefore, you can't really pretend like this was a major upgrade without a significant loss.

Carolina could use help in the secondary, having lost multiple big names there. But you can't overlook that offensive line.

Last season, they allowed 58 sacks. That was tied for the worst in the entire NFL (the Miami Dolphins also allowed 58 sacks).

Trading one star offensive lineman for another isn't going to magically fix everything.

And while this is a position you could probably go after in the draft, you'll still want depth.

The secondary of the Panthers has a lot of issues. It could improve faster through the draft that the offensive line though.

Even if the offensive line is addressed in the draft, they'll want more depth and veteran talent. So it's a position of absolute need in free agency.

There are still some extremely intriguing names out there too.

Cordy Glenn, Kelvin Beachum, Marcus Gilbert, Jason Peters and Demar Dotson are all great very options for another tackle. Meanwhile, Ryan Kalil's resume speaks for itself at center. Of course, at guard Mike Iupati, Ron Leary and Josh Kline (as well as others) are all available.

Players are still there for the picking. And even more importantly, at this stage, the Panthers could likely scoop them up for relatively cheap.

Carolina is looking to reverse it's fortunes after last season. A strong start was undone by a miserable end to the season. And it's led to a lot of changes this offseason.

So far though, the offensive line has not seen the improvements it's needed to see. It doesn't matter what the Panthers do this offseason, if they can't protect the quarterback, they won't win games.

Getting a few more offensive linemen to protect their new investment in Teddy Bridgewater is an absolute necessity. And doing it in free agency is the safer route than through the draft, as you know what you'll get from the talent.

So far though, they haven't made enough moves on that front. Let's see if they can correct that moving forward.
