The Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) returns once again after a year-long hiatus with the Singapore Major 2021.

THE SINGAPORE MAJOR 2021 MARKS THE RETURN OF THE DPC

PGL will be hosting The Singapore Major 2021, the first Local Area Network (LAN) tournament of the DPC season. The tournament marks the return of LAN tournaments to the Dota 2 pro circuit, playing out from March 27 to April 4, 2021 (SGT).

PGL has big plans for the epic return of Dota 2 LANs. Fans look forward to LAN events because it gives them the opportunity to meet Dota 2 pros in person. To make this LAN event more special, PGL announced that the whole program will be broadcasted in full 4K UHD in 60 frames per second, a first in Dota 2 broadcasting.

The DPC was cut short last year ending with the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor last March 2020. Valve canceled ESL One Los Angeles 2020, the next tournament in the DPC. With the looming threat of a pandemic, they then canceled the rest of the DPC 2020.

After launching its inaugural tournament last December 2019, ONE Esports intended to hold The Singapore Major 2020. It would have concluded DPC 2020 had the circuit went on as planned. The Singapore Major 2021 gives ONE Esports another chance to hold their own Dota 2 Major.

FORMAT, PRIZE POOL, AND PARTICIPATING TEAMS

With the announcement of the Singapore Major, Dota 2 fans now know what to look forward to in the coming months. It will feature the top eighteen teams from the six regional leagues in the world. Four teams will hail from Europe and China, three from Southeast Asia and the CIS, and two each from North America and South America.

The Singapore Major will start with a six-team round-robin stage for Wildcards Invitees. The top two teams move on to the group stage, where they face against the Group Stage Invitees. The top six teams of the tournament then move on to the playoffs stage. The highest-scoring teams from each one of the regional leagues await in the playoffs stage.
