Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett has only been in charge for a few months, but he is already making an impact. Previous head coach Vic Fangio had a rule against playing music during Broncos practices. Hackett however, is a big fan of music and encourages it to be played during practices.

“I like the music,” said Denver’s coach. “If I don’t have it, I’ll start freaking out. You always want to hear that stuff. It keeps it — I feel like on game day it’s pretty loud. There’s a lot of things going on. I think distractions, to a certain extent, are good. Different music, different people saying things. That’s how it is on game days. You want to create that environment as much as possible.”

Recently Hackett was introduced to the customizable quiz game Kahoot! thanks to his kids. He creates quizzes for the Broncos players to take during team meetings. The players compete against their teammates as they are quizzed on football plays and terminology.

Who is currently dominating at Kahoot! on the team? That would be center Lloyd Cushenberry.

“He wins every one of them when the whole group is in there,” said Hackett. “That’s a challenge to all the offensive guys because we’re all trying to figure out how somebody can beat him.”

Cushenberry was drafted by the Broncos in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, Cushenberry was thrown into a starting role, but he acclimated to the pros rather quickly.

“As a center, a lot of people expect the center to know everything,’’ the Broncos lineman said. “You have to be smart. You don’t get a pat on the back for being smart as a center. You’re supposed to do that. That’s what I try to do every night. I get home and the first thing I do is watch the film, study a little bit, and take a little time off. Before I go to sleep, same thing. It’s an every night process.”

Who would have thought that a children’s quiz game would be helping the Broncos prep for the upcoming season.
