Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas was heavily featured in Sunday's episodes of “The Last Dance,” as the docuseries focused on the Chicago Bulls' intense rivalry against the Pistons in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

However, one man mistakenly drew the ire of Michael Jordan supporters. This was Isaiah Thomas (notice the difference in the spelling of their first names), who we last saw with the Washington Wizards this season. Apparently, a lot of angry fans were tweeting at Thomas, thinking that he was the Isiah featured in the documentary.

Thomas tweeted out a rather hilarious message after “The Last Dance” aired about the rampant case of mistaken identity:

It's actually a common mistake to interchange these two players, even in our world of sports reporting, so it comes to no surprise that some fans made the same mistake.

Then again, these two played roughly two decades apart, so a little common sense goes a long way here.

For his part, the younger Thomas even shared a couple of photos of himself with Thomas the Hall of Famer, perhaps just to prove that they are not one and the same person:

Isaiah Thomas, now 30 years of age, is himself looking to make a comeback in the NBA whenever play resumes. He was traded by the Wizards in February to the Los Angeles Clippers, who in turn waived him soon after. The diminutive guard has bounced around the league since his All-Star stint with the Boston Celtics.

Thomas has yet to sign with a new team since then, but it does seem that he still has a bit left in the tank. Perhaps we will see him again in the league in the near future. For now, he'll just be enjoying “The Last Dance” like everybody else.
