Sunday's episodes of “The Last Dance” delved into Michael Jordan's stint with Team USA in 1992, or more fondly known as the “Dream Team.”

This was arguably the greatest basketball team ever assembled. They were so good that even scrimmage sessions turned out to be quite a treat. Los Angeles Lakers legend and fellow Dream Team member Magic Johnson recalled in “The Last Dance” one particular practice game in Monte Carlo during which he made the mistake of talking trash to Jordan.

Johnson's team had an early lead against Jordan's side, and Magic decided to engage MJ in a little bit of trash talk:

“We’re up about eight points, I think it was. Something like that,” Johnson said, via Robby Kalland of Dime on UPROXX. “I went up and tapped him, ‘Look man, if you don’t turn into Air Jordan, we’re going to blow you out.’ … Man, what did I say that for.”

Rod Thorn, one of the top executives for Team USA at that time, also relived that epic game in “The Last Dance.” Thorn was in the gym and saw the contest as a firsthand witness. He described how Jordan savagely responded to Johnson's smack talk:

“Michael proceeded to score every time down the court,” Thorn said. “It was like, OK, you wanna know who the guy is, here’s who the guy is.”

Johnson immediately regretted his decision to light a fire under Jordan:

“He broke the huddle and hit a three. Bam. Came back down, hit another three. Bam. Came through the middle and just shook everybody. Bam,” Johnson recalled. “Before we know it, they was up two.”

Even the great ones know when to admit when they were wrong, and in this particular instance, Johnson knew that trash talking Jordan was not one of his best decisions. It's stories like these that have made “The Last Dance” so enjoyable.
