Jasmine Jordan is not too surprised that her dad — the one and only Michael Jordan — was involved in scuffles and altercations during his playing days as seen in the sports documentary The Last Dance. The younger Jordan experienced her dad's passion and competitive spirit first-hand.
The series has offered such a fascinating look at Michael Jordan. This is one more component.
In an interview with Associated Press, Jasmine — Jordan's daughter from first wife Juanita Savoy — shared her thoughts on the hit docuseries. According to Jasmine, her dad's competitive drive has trickled on over to her, particularly the way Michael Jordan pushes her to do well in school.
“Some of them, yes. Some of them I do. I know when it comes to the game, his passion is unmatched. His energy’s unmatched. So when he’s going at Steve Kerr or checking Scottie and trying to get that fire and tenacity out of them, I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s Dad.’ I mean, he’ll do that to me just so I can get an A out of a test or two. (laughs) And I’m just trying to pass school, I’m not even winning championships. So that is definitely totally him,” via the Chicago Sun-Times. Imagine what Michael Jordan thinks.
However, what surprised Jasmine was her father's openness in the interviews. From her perspective, her father is a private guy who only responds on his own terms. In The Last Dance, Michael Jordan showed his emotional side — either through laughing out loud at Gary Payton or through trying to contain his tears when trying to explain why he was so hard on his teammates.
The last two episodes of The Last Dance will air on Sunday. Michael Jordan will ride into the sunset on TV.
