Without a doubt, Joel Embiid is the engine that keeps the Philadelphia 76ers running. The All-Star center is his team’s focal point, both on offense and defense. But even though his worth on the court is unquestionable, Embiid’s card value is still not as high as many people would think.

We tackle down below why collectors shouldn’t fear this price dip in Embiid’s stock and why it’s the ideal chance to hoard more of his cards.

The Joel Embiid Card Opportunity

Joel Embiid MVP-Worthy Run This Season

Embiid is finally showing the fruits of the process that started seven years ago when the 76ers drafted him. over the course of his NBA tenure, the All-Star is having a career season this year by averaging 28.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 blocks, and a steal in 31.1 minutes per game. He’s also connecting 51% of his shots from the field, 37% from beyond the perimeter, and 86% from the free throw line.

More than these numbers, Embiid is worth more on the court for Philadelphia. According to Statmuse, without their big man in the lineup, the 76ers have a 10-11 record. In contrast, they perform a lot better with Embiid playing, giving them a 39-12 record in the process.

Thanks to Embiid’s stellar showing during the regular season, the 76ers managed to finish with the top seed going into the postseason. And in their first-round matchup against the Washington Wizards, the big man is still dominating on both ends of the floor.

Joel Embiid, Sixers

In four games, Embiid is averaging 24 points on 63% shooting from the field and 46% from downtown. He’s also hitting 89% of his free throws while grabbing 6.8 boards and dishing 2.5 dimes in 23.8 minutes per contest.

And while he is still questionable for Philadelphia’s next game due to knee soreness, Embiid’s impressive talent this year can’t be denied. His card price, on the other hand, is a different story altogether.

Joel Embiid's Rookie Card Market

While Embiid is dominating on the court, his card value hasn’t reflected that yet. In a post on Instagram, Slabstox took a look at The Process’ PSA 10 Prizm Silver rookie card sales from the end of February until the second week of May.

The said card slightly hovered above the $4,000-mark when March began. It peaked at around $4,600 sometime in April before sliding down to a little more than $3,200 now.

Current sales on eBay value Embiid’s first gem-mint Prizm Silver card at $3,000. More than two weeks ago, another PSA 10 slab of the same card sold for $5,500. This means that if Embiid overcomes the injury bug sooner than later, then continues to show his dominance in the playoffs, his card value can bounce back to at least $4,600.

Embiid is definitely a top-tier talent in the NBA with a potential ceiling pointing towards a title in the future. As long as he can stay healthy down the stretch, there’s no telling what he can achieve. If that he does surpass the expectations set on him, the current price of these Joel Embiid rookie cards will surely be a steal down the line.
