In an official PlayStation Blog post, Sony announced that they'll finally be having their next PlayStation Showcase in the coming week. The broadcast is scheduled for September 9, 2021, starting at 1PM PDT or 9PM BST.

When is the next PlayStation Showcase broadcast? – September 9, 2021

The announcement begins with an acknowledgement of how long we've been waiting for more PlayStation announcements, especially after their absence at E3, saying: “You’ve been awfully patient, and we thank you for that. And now we’re looking forward to showing you what we’ve been working on.” It goes on, with the following:

“Tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 9:00pm BST / 10:00pm CEST for a look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.”

It should also be noted that next-gen VR will not make an appearance at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase. Their previous State of Play covered Deathloop and a few third-party titles. Meanwhile, Sony's heavy-hitting first-party exclusives were nowhere to be seen. This time, however, they're promising showings from PlayStation Studios. This means we might have some exclusives on the table.

We haven't heard much about the next God of War or Horizon Forbidden West since their delays into next year. Perhaps it might be time to show us a bit more about them. Again, the next PlayStation Showcase is on September 9, 2021.
