The San Francisco 49ers have added some speed to their wide receiving corps in recent seasons and Jimmy Garoppolo appreciates it. During a Zoom call with reporters, Garoppolo spoke about the one area where he is impressed with the 49ers wide receivers heading into the 2020 season.

Per Matt Barrows in The Athletic:

“I think the speed that we bring in — especially in the offensive skill group — I love that,” he said. “That helps with the run after catch and it makes my job a little more tough getting them the ball on time and accurately. It’s a little different with speedsters like that, but it’s a luxury that I love to have.”

Last season, Garoppolo was able to start in all 16 games for the first time in his career. While he put together the best year of his career, Garoppolo's receiving corps consisted of rookie Deebo Samuel, Emmanuel Sanders, Kendrick Bourne, Richie James, and Dante Pettis.

Even though San Francisco lost Sanders in free agency, they didn't waste any time replacing him this offseason. In the 2020 NFL Draft, the 49ers selected Brandon Aiyuk with the No. 25 pick in the first round. As a result, Garoppolo has another versatile weapon to target in the passing attack in 2020.

Despite Samuel battling back from a broken foot, San Francisco has a receiving corps that thrives at creating after the catch. Meanwhile, having George Kittle doesn't hurt the cause either. As Garoppolo prepares to bounce back from San Francisco's Super Bowl defeat from last season, he's confident in the wide receivers he has at his disposal in 2020.
