There is no question that the Cleveland Browns are heading in the right direction, but they are still a few pieces away from being a playoff team and making the Super Bowl run. The good news for the Browns is they have done a good job in rebuilding, and they have a ton of money to spend this offseason. They are currently sitting with around $80 million in cap space, and with a little restructuring, they could have even more money.

With all that money the one guy they need to target on the defensive side is going to cost a big chunk of money, Jadeveon Clowney. The Houston Texans really can't afford to re-sign him unless they place a franchise tag on him and if they don't do that, he will probably become a free agent.

Clowney is going to be asking a lot of money, but with some of his injury concerns, he will probably get somewhere in the 4-5 year deal for $75-85 million.

Even at that price change, he is precisely the type of guy the Browns need on their side. One place the defense struggled last year for the Browns was stopping the run.

The Browns were giving up 135.2 rushing yards per game and an average of 4.7 yards per carry, which were both bottom third in the league. Myles Garrett is a great defensive end and having Clowney lining up on the other side would make it really hard for opposing teams.

Last season, Clowney finished with 47 tackles and nine sacks. During his career, he has 205 tackles and 29 sacks.

For the Browns, it's essential that the team gets an interior defensive lineman, but I think when a guy like Clowney is available on the open market you can't miss out on a chance to get him.

The only knock on Clowney is the injury issues, but I really believe that is something that can be overlooked for the Browns. The Browns are only a few pieces away, and I think getting Clowney is the first step in the direction.
