The Chicago Bears this past season shocked the entire league. They ended up being one of the most feared defensive teams in the entire NFL. They went 12-4 during the regular season, winning the NFC North by a landslide. Their defense led the league in takeaways and points off of takeaways. They simply dominated offensively.

Their offense wasn't too shabby either. They scored 26.3 points per game, which ranked ninth overall in the entire NFL. The offense has headlined by second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky proved himself to be an excellent game manager. His ability to scramble and find the open man is unheralded. He has a very strong arm as well.

Trubiksy started 14 games, throwing for 3,223 yards with 24 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions. His completion percentage was a solid 6.6 percent and his quarterback rating sat at 72.8, one of the higher marks among starting quarterbacks.

The young gunslinger had a handful of weapons to work with. Tarik Cohen, their shifty third-down back, was probably his most dynamic weapon. On the season, he caught 71 passes for 725 total reception yards. Head coach Matt Nagy would often motion him outside of the backfield and use him as a wideout.

Otherwise, the Bears didn't have many other weapons. Allen Robinson was fine. He caught 55 passes for 754 reception yards. Taylor Gabriel, their tight end, caught 67 passes for 688 yards. The players around Trubisky was good, but not great. Trubisky could succeed even further if the team was able to acquire a legitimate top-tier wide receiver.

Golden Tate would fit in perfectly into the Bears offensive system. The slot receiver is one of the league's most consistent talents. Since 2014, he’s had three seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards and four seasons with over 90 receptions.

Last season, he was only able to collect 74 receptions along with 795 yards and four total touchdowns. This was more of a product of him being traded mid-year. The 31-year-old still has plenty of gas left in the proverbial tank. He's one of the best route-runners in the entire league. Nagy is one of the best offensive minds in the game, coming from Andy Ried's coaching tree.

The Bears next season are hitting the prime of their roster. Trubiisky has yet another year under his belt, and their defensive players will be one year older. The team needs to make additions to their offense while they still have such a good defensive core. It makes all sense in the world for the team to pick him up.
