A team strategist dubbed Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant as “the grand prize of this deadline,” per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. Several squads have reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring the 27-year-old. One team that will likely put the Pistons on speed dial over the next three weeks is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves are in the midst of a resurgent campaign where they are trying to book a ticket to the NBA Playoffs for just the second time in 18 years. The front office may pull out all the stops to bring in someone who could help them get there. Grant could be that guy.

Here is the perfect trade the Timberwolves must offer the Pistons for Jerami Grant.

Perfect Timberwolves trade for Jerami Grant

Timberwolves receive: Jerami Grant

Pistons receive: Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, 2022 1st round pick

The Timberwolves like what they've seen from their pair of young forwards in Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaden McDaniels this season. In this trade, unfortunately, the team will need to give up McDaniels to get Grant. In addition, the Timberwolves will also send their sixth man Malik Beasley and their 2022 first round pick to entice the Pistons. Nonetheless, it will be worth it if it means bringing in a player of Grant's caliber.

On the bright side, the Timberwolves get to keep Vanderbilt, whom they are really high on, arguably more than McDaniels. The 22-year-old has earned a full-time starting job this season. He's slowly finding his footing in the NBA and he's doing it with his high energy and defensive versatility.

Getting Grant while keeping Vanderbilt will allow the Timberwolves to mix and match their lineups depending on the matchup. They could go big by starting Grant at small forward and Vanderbilt at power forward. They could also go small with Beverley starting and having Vanderbilt come off the bench as an energizer.

Despite having a talented offensive trio of Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, and Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves rank in the bottom-10 in offensive rating, per NBA.com. That's where someone like Grant, a proven two-way gem, will give them a boost.

Since going to the Pistons, Grant has grown into a skilled 3-level scorer from being just a 3-and-D guy for the two seasons prior. Before going down with thumb surgery, which will keep him for a couple more weeks, he was averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 24 appearances this season.
