The Miami Heat have enjoyed a highly successful 2021-22 campaign and currently sit atop the Eastern Conference standings. However, they currently have just an 11 percent chance of winning the NBA Finals as of this story's publication. This places them behind the Nuggets, Bucks, Suns and Celtics despite their first overall ranking in the East. But this Miami team is hungry, talented, and poised for a deep postseason run. And there is one main reason why the Heat can win the Finals this season.

But first, let's discuss this team's roster as presently constructed. Miami has their superstar in Jimmy Butler. He is capable of putting the team on his back in any given game and leading them to victory. He also leads an impressive “big three” which includes veteran point guard Kyle Lowry and dynamic big man Bam Adebayo. These three stars mesh well with one another and make for one of the most skilled trios in the current NBA.

The Heat depth is also incredibly useful. Tyler Herro is making a strong case for Sixth Man of the Year, Duncan Robinson can shoot the lights out from deep, and Victor Oladipo is finally healthy.

This is a roster that rivals any other team in the league right now. Their mixture of offensive prowess, defensive hustle, and overall skill makes them an intimidating opponent without question. But the fact is that there are plenty of talented teams with impressive rosters in the NBA. So why can the Heat win the Finals?

Two seasons ago Miami performed admirably in the NBA Bubble. They cruised through the Eastern Conference playoffs en route to a date with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals. However, Los Angeles proved to be too much to handle as they went on to win the series four games to two. This left a sour taste in the mouths of Heat players. Sure, they had enjoyed a strong season that saw them make it all the way to Game Six of the Finals, but they felt as if they were short-changed. Miami believed they should have won the championship in 2020.

Fast-forward to 2022 and the Heat are sitting pretty in the East. But they have more on their minds than simply making the postseason. Butler, Herro, and Adebayo all remember what it was like to lose two seasons ago and they have no desire of letting that happen once again. Lowry knows what it takes to win a championship after he helped lead the Toronto Raptors to a Finals win in 2019. He would surely love nothing more than to add another ring to his resume.

And that is the reason why the Heat can win the 2022 NBA Finals. This team has the motivation to get the job done. Talent is one thing, but motivation is on an entirely different level.

Teams need to weary of Miami moving forward.
