Taysom Hill will still be the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints until Drew Brees returns later this season. It appears that this weekend’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs will be too early for the star quarterback’s return.

Ross Jackson, the host of the daily Locked On Saints podcast, went into detail on how the Saints should approach the quarterback situation for the Saints and limit Brees in favor of Hill’s development.

Jackson: I am still very much in the camp that it is not needed to rush Drew Brees back if he is not one hundred percent. You need him on the field. You need him in the playoffs. You need him for the games that are not scheduled yet so do not worry about rushing him out. You need to continue the evaluation process for Taysom Hill, maybe even Jameis Winston if you want to get him some reps throughout all of this which I still advocate for just in terms of getting a look at the guy. If you have the opportunity to bring Drew Brees back for the Saints when he is fully healthy, fully healed, and ready to be back with a full range of motion and no pain and can get the ball down the field, then all of those signs should point to a return for Drew Brees that is at least soon. Something to consider, however, if he were to come back this week against the Kansas City Chiefs on the 20th this Sunday, he would have to turn around and play five days later against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, on Christmas day.
