Aside from details on Season 2 for the Netflix Witcher series, CD PROJEKT RED also announced two spin-offs for the franchise. First up was The Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf, an animated film. Second, was The Witcher Ronin, a full-length manga with Japanese folklore themes.

Nightmare of the Wolf

Nightmare of the Wolf will be an anime movie about Geralt's mentor, Vesemir. It will launch on August 23 on Netflix. Studio Mir, the studio behind Dota: Dragon's Blood and Avatar: The Legend of Korra will be co-producing the film alongside Netflix Animation.

Vesemir, the protagonist of the movie, was one of the oldest and most experienced Witchers at Kaer Morhen. He also served as a father figure to Geralt. The upcoming movie will cover his backstory.

The Witcher Ronin

One of the biggest surprises to come out of WitcherCon was CDPR's The Witcher Ronin Kickstarter announcement. It is a full-length Witcher manga “set in an ancient-Japanese-inspired world where monster slayer Geralt trails the mythical Lady of Snow Yuki Onna.”

Rafał Jaki, CDPR's comic book editor and co-creator of Gwent, will be writing the manga. He also has a degree in Japanese philosophy from Warsaw University. Hataya, famous for Neko no Matasaburou and Mangaka Joshi, will be joining him as the manga's illustrator.

The manga will be set in an alternate universe unrelated to the events of the book or the game. It will feature Geralt in a historical-fantasy Japanese setting, full of interesting creatures such as yokai.

Additionally, CDPR has already fully paid for the production of the manga. The Kickstarter only serves to fund a Collector's Edition for its fans. It will also allow them to release the manga to a global audience.
