It's a familiar sight for new Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau when he looks back toward the East Coast and sees the New York Knicks roster.

The Knicks have famously been hoarding former Chicago Bulls players this summer as they look to retool and rebrand themselves on the basketball court.

Chicago acquired Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah this summer, two of Thibodeau’s favorite players that he coached during his five years with the Bulls.

Thibodeau says he’s happy with his move to Minnesota after a year out of the coaching game, and is happy for Rose and Noah.

Via Marc Berman of the New York Post:

“I think they’re both great,” Thibodeau said. “They’ve already proven themselves. I think it’s good for them. I think it will work out. They got a good team. The way [Carmelo Anthony] plays, [Kristaps] Porzingis, Courtney Lee, they’re going to be good.

“Mentally, [Rose and Noah] are experienced. When you have veterans like that, it adds a lot to your team. They know how to play. They’ve been in big games. They’re unselfish and play to win. That’s a big plus.”

Thibodeau will be coaching in the Western Conference now, so he won’t be seeing Rose and Noah a ton. But it should be good theater when the Timberwolves and Knicks play next season.
