The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2022 NFL off-season with just $12 million to spend and a lot of holes on the roster to fill. They are trying to maximize their time with quarterback Jalen Hurts on a rookie contract and when teams are trying to do that they usually spend big in free agency. After all, once Hurts' contract is up after the 2024 season, he will be in for a hefty raise and the Eagles will have $30-40 million less to spend on upgrades to the roster.

However, as mentioned before, the Eagles do not have the cap space that most of the other teams in similar quarterback circumstances have. Therefore, they must make do with the re-signing of a few of their restricted free agents instead of going “big fish” hunting come March. Here are the three players that the Eagles can make sure they bring back as they look to become champions of an NFC East division that was won by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 but hasn't seen a repeat champion in almost two decades.

3 Eagles free-agents that they need to bring back

3. Alex Singleton

Singleton is a 28-year-old former undrafted free agent and Canadian Football League (CFL) all-star that began the 2021 season as a starter before being demoted midway through the year and then being promoted to starter again by year's end. Overall, Singleton played in 16 games, starting eight of them. Even though he did not grade out very impressively by most scouting metrics, he still lead the Eagles for the second straight season with 137 tackles. At worst, Singleton is going to be an asset for you as a backup linebacker that has usually been healthy and surely can also contribute on special teams if asked. Singleton can be brought back as long as the Eagles match any offer that is given to him.

2. Boston Scott

Scott, another undrafted free-agent turned contributor for the Eagles, is also due to be a restricted free agent in March. In 2021, Scott played in 16 games with four starts and ended up with 456 total yards and seven rushing touchdowns. The TD's put him second on the team behind Jalen Hurts and that is why we are saying to bring him back. It is hard to find guys that consistently find the end zone and Scott showed a knack for that in 2021. Hopefully, for his sake, that was enough for the Eagles to offer up a decent contract or at the very least it will entice another team to sign Scott to a contract that they could match. That is all the Eagles would need to do because they own Scott's restricted free agent rights.

1. Jason Kelce

Ok, so Kelce is technically classified as an exclusive rights free agent but that comes with a bit of a caveat in that the 2021 all-pro center turns 35 next season. If he is on the roster come June under his same contract, he will cost the team $30 million against the 2022 cap. That hit is untenable even for a team with a starting quarterback on a rookie deal. The deadline is meant to spur action between the two sides on a long-term contract. If the team cannot agree with Kelce, he may look to spend his last contract or two chasing a ring ala Andrew Whitworth when he went from the Cincinnati Bengals to the Los Angeles Rams at a similar age.
