Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Alex Abrines is slated to miss roughly six weeks after undergoing a sports hernia procedure on Thursday morning, according to a report from ESPN's Royce Young.

Abrines, now 24 years of age, played in 75 games for the Thunder during their 2017-18 regular season campaign (eight starts), averaging 4.7 points on 39.5 percent shooting from the field (38.0 percent from beyond the arc) and 1.5 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per.

A six week timetable would allow for Abrines to be back in action sometime in June, which means he should be good to go for next season's training camp. Abrines signed with the Thunder on July 23, 2016. The Spanish-born guard is owed $5.45 million from the team.

According to the team's official website, Abrines' surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, Pa. Abrines suffered a concussion shortly before the end of the regular season. He was placed in the NBA's concussion protocol program and returned to the lineup on April 15.

As a Spanish League champion (2014) and Spanish Cup winner (2013), there is no doubt the Thunder like what they see in Abrines' game. Join us in wishing him a speedy recovery.
