For Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard Andre Roberson, it has now been almost two months since he suffered a heartbreaking injury when he ruptured his left patellar tendon in a game against the Detroit Pistons.

According to a tweet this afternoon from Erik Horne of The Oklahoman, Thunder head coach Billy Donovan said that Roberson still has a long way to go until he's back on an NBA court and up to game speed.

“He's got a long, long way to go,” coach Donovan said of Roberson. “He's still in the brace. Like I said, when we're here in practice, he's here and he's around. It's good to see his face. He's upbeat, he's around, he goes through his treatment, his rehabilitation, those kinds of things. He's getting better and progressing at the rate he should progress, but I think for him it's going to be a long road to recovery. But he'll work really hard to get himself back to where he was.”

Roberson's elite defensive abilities on the court have surely been missed by the Thunder, but the addition of newly-acquired veteran shooting guard Corey Brewer to the starting lineup has done wonders for Oklahoma City. Since Brewer was added to coach Donovan's starting five, the Thunder have gone 6-1 during that span of time.

With just nine games left in their regular season schedule, the Thunder (43-30) will return home on Friday night and look to start a new winning streak when they host the Miami Heat at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
