With the Oklahoma City Thunder now featuring three legitimate stars in their lineup, expectations are already starting to grow. Many have started to think of them as serious contenders for the title, and are also being thought of as stiff competition for the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors.

During their Media Day on Monday, Andre Roberson was asked to give his take about their new-look team. He did not deny that he is very happy with it, and even said that he thinks they now qualify as a “super team.”

Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony are all considered stars in the NBA, and there is no doubt that they play at an elite level. The question that remains in the minds of many is how they will co-exist and string a lot of wins in their first season playing together. Their bench will also play a crucial role for them and the production they will get from their non-starters could dictate how much success they’ll reach.

On paper, their starting unit is definitely one of the best in the league today, however, there’s a huge drop in the level of talent once they take breathers during games. The good news for the Thunder though is that their starters are used to receiving heavy minutes, and head coach Billy Donovan also knows how to distribute the playing time well. Their training camp will be very important for them, and will be the chance for the players to immerse themselves with the sets they will run this season, and also find out how the coaching staff plans to compete with the “super team” they now have.
