Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Andre Roberson is on track to be ready for the start of training camp in September.

Roberson didn't play at all this season. While recovering from a ruptured left patellar tendon he suffered in 2017-18, Roberson sustained two setbacks during the season which derailed his comeback:

Roberson signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Thunder back in 2017. He played in 39 games last season and averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor, 22.2 percent from beyond the arc and 31.6 percent from the free-throw line.

As we all know, Roberson is more valuable on the defensive side of the ball for the Thunder. OKC could have used him in its first round series against the Portland Trail Blazers. Russell Westbrook and Paul George had trouble guarding Blazers star Damian Lillard. Roberson could have made things difficult for Lillard since he's an elite perimeter defender who made the 2017 All-Defensive team.

The Thunder lost in five games to the Blazers, the third straight season they have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. OKC has over $130 million committed to six players for next season, so they don't have a lot of options to improve the roster. The Thunder are hoping Roberson will help them take the next step in 2019-20.
