Paul George makes his return to OKC on Sunday to face the Thunder for the first time since he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers over the summer.

George played two seasons with the Thunder before he requested a trade and was sent to LA.

Thunder head coach Billy Donovan says George deserves to be “received well” in his return to OKC:

George signed a four-year, $136.9 million maximum contract with the Thunder in the summer of 2018. Many thought George would bolt Oklahoma City after just one season and take his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers. George reportedly wanted to play for the Lakers for quite some time. He told the Indiana Pacers he wasn’t going to re-sign with them because he wanted to join the Lakers.

Whatever the Thunder did privately during the 2017-18 season with George worked, as the All-Star quickly re-signed with OKC in free agency. However, after the Thunder lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2019 playoffs, many around the league knew George and Russell Westbrook's time in OKC was coming to an end.

It will be interesting to see what type of reaction George gets from the Thunder crowd on Sunday. He has been booed heavily by Pacers fans in Indiana.
