It is no secret that Oklahoma City Thunder superstar point guard Russell Westbrook has had some pretty tense moments in the past with members of the media, whether it be someone asking him a really stupid question or the reigning MVP just not in the mood to open up to reporters.

Thunder star forward Carmelo Anthony, who joined Westbrook at the podium following Sunday night's 116-108 victory over the Utah Jazz in Game 1 of their first-round series, said on Monday that he definitely had something to do with Westbrook having a much more relaxed approach while talking to members of the media.

“I tend to have that effect to make Russ relax a little bit. I think y'all make him nervous and he just wants to get away from y'all sometimes,” Anthony said with a smile. “But you know, it's fun, man. Russ is Russ and I'm me.”

Anthony added that being more vocal and being willing to accept advice was something he really wanted to bring to Oklahoma City's locker room after he was traded from the New York Knicks.

“I think he's grown a lot. Just being willing to accept advice or talking, dialogue, and communication. That's something that I wanted to bring to this team was a little bit more communication and being open to the dialogue, being willing to take advice and see it from a different perspective,” Anthony said.
