To say that the Oklahoma City Thunder's batch of exit interviews were wildly entertaining is quite the understatement.

But the highlight of it all is easily forward Carmelo Anthony's session. After responding to suggestions that he try a bench role next season with a resounding and not-so-politically correct “I'm not sacrificing” and that it is “out of the question,” The Oklahoman's Brett Dawson reports that Melo also confirmed that he will definitely be back next season and will opt into the final year of his contract.

“Yeah. I have enjoyed my six months, seven months here.”

Not exactly surprising considering that $27.9 million is a lot of money and he probably would not command that much money in the free agent market given his age and the rather poor 2017-18 performance that he also carried into the postseason at a worse rate that even saw the defacto starter benched during some critical junctures.

The former Syracuse Orangeman still believes that he could be a viable starter and contends that his poor play could be attributed to the Thunder forcing him to play a different game to which he is accustomed to — mainly as a spot-up undersized stretch four instead of a ball dominant isolation player.

“I don't think I can be effective as that type of player. I think I was willing to accept that challenge in that role, but I think I bring a little bit more to the game as far as being more knowledgeable and what I still can do as a basketball player.”
