The Oklahoma City Thunder made it clear they were not going to sit out the 2017-18 NBA season without providing last year’s MVP Russell Westbrook with some quality help. On paper, the acquisition of superstars Paul George and Carmelo Anthony made plenty of sense given their lack of firepower on offense.

However, the question remained as to how the Thunder were going to distribute enough touches for their newly-formed ‘Big 3’. Surprisingly enough, their numbers have been nearly identical through the first 10 games of the 2017-18 NBA season, according to the Thunder Heads Podcast:

Even the most optimistic of statisticians could not have predicted such an equal share of the offense. Prior to their consolidation in Oklahoma City, each player was individually labeled as somewhat of a ball-hog for their perspective teams.

However, they have seemingly managed to coexist within the offense so far this year. Perhaps the biggest surprise is how many touches Westbrook has ceded after a historic season in which he was crowned the ‘Triple-Double King’.

Unfortunately, it has not resulted in too many wins after getting off to a lackluster 4-6 start. If the Thunder are going to get on the right track, they may have to turn that focus toward the defensive end where they rank 22nd in team efficiency.
