After playing their first regular season game for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Carmelo Anthony and Paul George had the opportunity to gauge how the rest of their campaign could go. Playing alongside one of the best point guards in the NBA today in Russell Westbrook, the two were able to get some open looks at the basket, which the former New York Knicks forward admitted is a pleasant surprise for him.

Anthony even shared, via Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript, that he wants George to also get used to shooting without a defender in front, as those are the kinds of shots they could usually get now that they’re part of the Thunder.

The 10-time All-Star’s comments only goes to show how happy he is with the system the Thunder have in place, and how much he believes it can help make him and Paul George get better. It definitely works to their advantage as well that Russell Westbrook has the ability to locate his open teammates, and set them up for easy baskets.
