Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams is as strong as they come in the NBA. The Kiwi not only looks imposing thanks to his rugged facial hair, but he also plays like it, especially on the defensive end.

However, new teammate Carmelo Anthony jokingly dismissed Adams’ bona fides as one of the strongest dudes in the league.

“He’s not strong. Don’t hype his head up. Don't big him up to much. No, he's strong. I played against him for a couple of years. He was always somebody who I always know when I come into the paint that you've got to be ready, you've got to be prepared. The physicality that he brings to the game, for the whole game, is different.”

Thanks to his impressive strength, Adams isn’t afraid to mix it up and get physical with anyone in the paint. He’s an outstanding anchor for a Thunder defense which has been one of the best in the league this year.

However, Adams is also showing recently how he can use his strength to overpower opposing teams offensively. He’s averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds through seven games in December. He imposed his will on the Indiana Pacers to the tune of 23 points on a season-high 16 shot attempts to go with 13 rebounds (nine offensive).

With the Thunder’s Big Three all struggling from the field, it only makes sense to utilize Adams’ strength and efficiency along the interior. He’s shooting 71 percent from the floor this month even as his shot attempts have gone up, showing what a true offensive weapon he could be when used with more consistency.
