Not many are able to recognize the invaluable contribution Oklahoma City Thunder veteran and current NBPA president Chris Paul has provided in order for the NBA bubble idea to come to life. Recently, the All-Star point guard revealed how he got teary-eyed upon realizing that all his hard work had paid off.

Paul opened up to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, as the future Hall of Famer expressed the overwhelming joy he felt once he saw the bubble for the first time.

“Just think about it. A lot of things we were seeing at one point were renderings, and just conversations,” Chris Paul said. “What will they need as far as a weight room? What will I need here? What will they need there?

“So, to walk in and to see it all in person is humbling. This is just crazy. When I initially got here, I got very emotional, just because it’s a lot of [people] that put in a lot of hours and stuff like that to make this happen.”

For his part, New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard JJ Redick, who himself played with Paul during their time together with the Los Angeles Clippers, spoke out about how he believes Paul has been pivotal in the resumption of the season.

“I don’t think he gets enough credit for us being here,” said Redick. “His leadership has been amazing. I talked to him a couple weeks ago before we came here. … The thing that really stuck with me was how many hours per day for literally months he was on the phone, on Zoom, talking to people representing himself for the players. He absolutely worked his butt off to make this thing happen. Incredible leadership.”

The Thunder vet remains to be one of the premier point guards in the league today, but clearly, Chris Paul has also been excellent in terms of fulfilling his role as the NBPA president. Kudos to you, Chris.
