Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul came through with a thoughtful gift for the Utah Jazz when they were on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report from The Athletic, Paul sent out a delivery of beer and wine to Jazz players roughly an hour after hearing that their game against them had been postponed due to the virus. The Thunder guard, who serves as the president of the National Basketball Players Association, asked his long-time security guard Gene Escamilla to deliver the goods in an attempt to relieve some of the stress they were dealing with.

“One of the best things all night was Chris Paul trying to get us some refreshments, which was great,” said Jazz head coach Quin Snyder, who had declined to detail the specifics about what was delivered. “That was a nice gesture.”

The NBA decided to suspend the 2019-20 regular season in mid-March due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19. Jazz big man Rudy Gobert became the first confirmed case. His teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positively shortly after. Since then, several other players and staffers around the league have contracted the virus.

Gobert and Mitchell were officially cleared of the virus on March 27, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic:

Sporting leagues around the globe have taken similar steps in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19. At this point, it's not clear when play might resume, though some are hoping that games can be played at a later date this year.

In light of the fact that there are no games being played, the NBA has decided to host a “Horse” tournament this weekend, which you can learn more about here. Paul is expected to participate in the event. Nevertheless, a nice gesture by the Thunder veteran.
